I'm machining some 13-8 AMS5629 HT H1000. I need some advise on what feeds
and speeds to use. Also what would be best as far as cutting tools. The
material is 1.56 x 1.56 x 19.00. I am machining basically an L shape out of
this stock with one leg angled about 3 degrees. and finishing up the walls
at about .100 thick.

Thank you for any help,

Jerry

What you have there is PH 13-8 MO which is a precipitation hardening
stainless steel. H1000 is hardened. Not sure how hard but 42Rc rings a
bell. It will be at least 38Rc IIRC.

You'll want to use carbide and slow speeds for end milling. Around 80SFM
for peripheral milling. Higher for a coated insert tool. I would start at
about .002" IPT feed.
